This month (February 2015) marina house celebrates being open for 7 years. A huge amount of our success is down to our unique and stunning location. Our greatest asset is our beautiful riverside decking.
With 2011's flooding a year back we have just celebrated our little girl's 1st birthday. If you have read our flood report from last year (further back in the news section) you'll know that our little girl was born during the flooding of 2011. This year has passed with no flooding, at all, in Bangphlat.
It has been 4 years since marina house opened on the banks of the Chao Praya river in Bangphlat. For a Bangkok apartment block marina house has been very well maintained with regular repainting of the rooms and the communal areas. The most important communal feature of marina house is our 100sqm deck on the riverfront. Due to this popularity the decking has seen a lot of human traffic and usage over the 48 months since our opening. Due to a rushed effort to finish marina house on schedule and the damage caused, by the Bangkok Flood of 2011, to the bank that our deck is set in our decking was in need of a complete rebuild.
Following our retreat to Phuket to have our baby we returned to marina house today to inspect the damage. We had been in constant contact throughout the situation with the residents who chose to ride it out in marina house and knew that, bar a limited choice of wine and diet drinks, there had been no incidents to report. Though our soi flooded to 60cm deep marina house is built 120cm above the soi height and all areas were accessible at all times.
