It's April, we're in Bangkok and it's HOT HOT HOT. In just 1 week the whole country is going to stop for Songkran. The Songkran week, traditionally, is a time for family, friends, reflection, relief and hope for a prosperous 12 months to come. In many ways it is similar to the Western Christmas period. It is a time of famine and drought where natural resources are stretched and the prized items become exhaulted. Water is in short supply so what do we do? We use it to honour our elders. Traditionally the water is poured over the feet and hands of our older family members as a sign of respect. Dues are paid at the temple and then the family enjoys time together in the way that people do all over the world...with food.
Due to the nature of Thailand's environment marina house's ever popular decking is in need of refurbishment. This project was last completed in 2012. Since that time the flood wall at the front of marina house has been raised by 80cm. Our upcoming projects will be recovering our full riverside aspect and bringing more intimate areas to our decking to support the continued use of our decking as an extended living area for our tenants.
When people start to think about taking the plunge to either visit or move to Thailand they often have no idea where to start. If you are booking a holiday then a hotel is a simple enough answer to your accommodation needs. Nearly every international flight into Thailand lands in Bangkok and many people decide that this is a good place to start their Thailand adventure and with plenty to see, do, eat and explore it is a wise choice.
